Kochi, Dec 10 : Around 52.04 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the second phase of Local Body Election till 1300 hours in five districts of Kerala on Thursday.
The average polling percentage was recorded at 52.04 in five districts.
The polling percentage in Kottayam is 51.63, Ernakulam 51.64, Thrissur 51.68, Palakkad 52.68 and Wayanad 53.87.
Meanwhile, the Kochi Municipal Corporation recorded 37.87 per cent voter turnout and Thrissur Municipal Corporation 40.99 per cent.
Voters in large numbers were in queues at many places especially in areas in villages since the polling began.
COVID-19 patients who were included in the certified list will be allowed to cast their votes in their respective polling booths in the last hour of voting this evening.
The term of elected representatives to 1200 local bodies, except Mattannur Municipality, had ended on November 11. However, the poll schedule was postponed to December due to COVID pandemic.
In the third phase on December 14, polling will be held in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
The counting of votes will be taken up on December 16.
