New Delhi, Jul 22 : The Lok Sabha proceedings on Thursday, the third day of the monsoon session, were adjourned till 1400 hrs due to a ruckus by the Opposition over various issues.
As soon as the House assembled for the second time at 1200 hrs, Members of Congress, All India Trinamool Congress, YSR Congress, Shiv Sena, Shiromani Akali Dal, Rashtriya Congress Party and other Opposition parties, trooped to the Well and started sloganeering against the government over Pegasus row, new farm bills, fuel price hike and other issues.
Bhartruhari Mahtab, who was at the Speaker’s chair, said the Speaker has rejected all the adjournment motions moved by various Opposition leaders.
Mr Mahtab asked the Opposition members to return to their seats and stated that the government is ready to discuss any issue.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi assured the Opposition members that all the issues will be discussed and cited the example of Rajya Sabha where the COVID-19 situation was debated on Tuesday as per the wish of the Opposition.
Mr Mahtab asked the Opposition to finalise the issue on which they want a discussion and keep it with the business committee of the House as per the rules.
However, his all appeals went in vain as the Opposition members continued with sloganeering and refused to resume their seats.
Amid ruckus, Mr Mahtab allowed Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt to introduce “The Essential Defence Services Bill, 2021” and Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal–“The Inland Vessels Bill 2021.”
Later, the House was adjourned till 1400 hrs.
