Lok Sabha adjourns till noon

New Delhi, July 28 : Amid a ruckus by both ruling and opposition benches over Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s disrespectful address to President Droupadi Murmu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the House till 12 noon on Thursday.

Union Minister Smriti Irani slammed Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury over his remarks on President Draupadi Murmu, and demanded an apology from Congress President Sonia Gandhi minutes after the lower House met.

As soon as the House met at 11 am, Irani raised the issue and slammed Chowdhury and Congress of being anti women, and insulting the top office of the country.

She attacked the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and said she should apologise for the comments by her party MP.

MPs from the treasury benches were also on their feet demanding an apology from the Congress chief. Following the ruckus Speaker adjourned the House.
