Mumbai, Apr 11 : All the District Collectors across the state have been directed to set up a control room at the district level to ensure smooth supply of Remedesivir injection in the state.
In this regard, the state health commissioner Dr. Ramaswamy has sent a letter to all the district collectors.
Recently, Health Minister Rajesh Tope, Food and Drug Administration Minister Dr. Rajendra Shingane had convened a meeting of representatives of injection manufacturing companies.
At that time, the Health Minister had instructed the Commissioner to set up a mechanism to streamline the supply of Remedesivir at the district level.
Accordingly, a letter has been sent to the Health Commissioner to all the District Collectors on Saturday.
Demand for Remedesivir injection is rapidly increasing mainly in private hospitals due to the increasing prevalence of corona patients in the state.
Similarly, there are complaints from private drug dealers that it is being sold at a higher rate. Therefore, in order to ensure smooth supply of remedesivir in the districts during the corona outbreak, complaints regarding remedesivir should also be accepted in the oxygen control room currently functioning under the resident deputy collector and it should be resolved through the local food and drug administration office, the letter said.
A technical committee should be constituted at the district level to ensure that the use of remedicivir in a private hospital is being carried out in a proper manner.
The letter also directed the state-level control room of the Food and Drug Administration to take appropriate action if needed.
