Mumbai, Mar 31 : Against the backdrop of the Corona epidemic, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) smart card scheme was extended till March 31, 2021.
However, considering the current situation of Covid-19, the scheme is being extended till September 30, 2021, informed the Minister of Transport Adv. Anil Parab.
He said that the Government of Maharashtra, through MSRTC , offers concessional fares of 33 to 100 per cent to 29 different social groups.
MSRTC has launched a scheme to issue “smart cards” associated with Aadhaar numbers to the concerned beneficiaries to avail the benefit of this concession scheme.
Accordingly, the process of issuing smart cards to senior citizens and other concessionaires is underway in every MSRTC depot.
However, due to the Corona epidemic, it is not possible for many passengers to come to the depot to get a smart card and the information is not available at the depot.
Therefore, in the areas where MSRTC buses are running, the concessions will be applicable to the passengers as before, the information has been given by the Corporation, he added.
