Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Nov 10 : Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Abdul Sattar on Thursday instructed concerned officials that the pending insurance proposals of farmers should be processed within five days and insurance amount should be deposited in their bank accounts within next eight days.
He gave this instruction at a meeting held to review the losses incurred under the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme Kharif 2022 at the divisional commissioner’s office here.
Speaking in this meeting, he noted that crops of farmers have been greatly damaged due to heavy rains in the state and said that out of total 51,31,000 notifications received under local natural calamities, survey of 46,09,000 had been completed and 5,21,000 pending surveys should be completed immediately.
Taking into consideration plight of farmers, the issue of payment of insurance is being continuously reviewed by the government, the minister said.
If the insurance amount is not paid to farmers, action will be taken against the responsible insurance companies, Sattar added.
