Kolkata, Jul 14 : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday called on state Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and had a one-and-one meeting at Raj Bhawan, an official communique said.
At the arrival of the Governor office, the chief minister was greeted
by Mr Dhankar and his wife as the duo offered Ms Banerjee a bouquet.
” Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called on Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at Raj Bhavan today. The two had an hour-long interaction without aides,” an one-line communique from Raj Bhavan said.
The meeting between the Governor and Chief Minister happened, a day after a BJP delegation headed by the Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari had called Mr Dhankar and submitted a memorandum.
” A Delegation of opposition MLAs led by the Leader of Opposition WBLA Suvendu Adhikari called on WB Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at Raj Bhawan Kolkata today ( Tuesday) at 4 PM.
” Leader of Opposition submitted a representation as regards
irregularities relatable to PAC Chairman WBLA.”
On Tuesday eight BJP lawmakers resigned from their respective standing committees to protest the appointment of Mukul Roy as the Public Account Committee (PAC) chairman.
The BJP said the TMC government has violated the democratic tradition by appointing Mukul Roy as the PAC chairman
Mr Roy won the Krishnanagar Uttar assembly seat on BJP ticket but
returned to his old party TMC last month.
