Mamita Murder: BJP, Congress intensify stir, demand removal of Home Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra

Bhubaneswar, Nov 10 : Opposition BJP and the Congress have intensified their statewide agitation demanding the sacking of Odisha Minister of state for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his role in the murder of Mahaling school teacher Mamita Meher and justice to Mamita.

Hundreds of BJP activists on Wednesday showed black flags at Arilo, Trishula and Naraj during the visit of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to inaugurate the Rs 263 crore milk processing unit at Arilo.

The Police rounded up around 50 BJP activists in this connection.The agitating BJP activists were taken into custody much before the Chief Minister’s car reached these places., Police also took several ABVP activists into custody near the Sishu Bhawan Chhak in the state capital while they were marching in a rally to gherao the Naveen Niwas demanding the removal of the Minister of state for Home from the Ministry and justice to Mamita.

At Baripada, sources said two BJP activists were injured in a scuffle with the Police .The scuffle took place while hundreds of BJP activists who came in a rally tried to barge into the office of the SP to submit a memorandum During the agitation though eggs were hurled at the Police but the BJP denied pelting any egg at the Police.

BJP Udala MLA Bhaskar Madhei and Baripada MLA Prakash Soren condemned the Police action .

BJP in charge of Odisha D Purandeswari at a press conference at Baragarh in Western Odisha today slammed the state government for shielding Minister of state for home Dibya Shankar Mishra.

She said no civil society would tolerate the barbaric way Mamita was murdered and demanded the sacking of the minister and justice for Mamita.

The slogan shouting Congress activists hurled eggs at the car of the Sports and Youth Service Minister Tushar Kanti Behera at Dumerpadar village under Thuamul Rampur Police station in Kalahandi district.

They also showed him black flags demanding the removal of Mr. Mishra from the Ministry and justice for Mamita, The Minister was on his way to distribute smart health cards under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana to the people when the Congress activists demonstrated against the Minister.
