Kolhapur/Raigad, Jun 6 : Keeping his word, MP Sambhajiraje Bhosale on Sunday announced to begin agitation for Maratha quota from June 16.
He made the announcement from the Raigad fort while addressing the ‘Shivbhakts’ gathered to mark the coronation day of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
In a recent meet with CM Uddhav Thackeray, the MP had given June 6 deadline to act on the quota issue. He had further said that inaction on the government’s part will lead to agitation.
He fulfilled his ultimatum with today’s announcement of starting a huge procession from the resting place of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj in Kolhapur.
He asserted, “I will not tolerate any injustice on Maratha community as reservation is their right. I am fighting for 70 per cent of the community which has been affected following the quota cancellation.”
Underscoring that the state and central governments are trying to shift the onus on each other, he said, “I am not interested in allegations and counter-allegations.”
He further said, “The Maratha community is passing from a tough time. When others can get quota than why can’t Marathas. Both the governments should tell how and when the reservation will be given.”
