Aurangabad, May 14 : The Marathwada region of Maharashtra registered 4,355 Covid-19 cases and 119 fatalities during the past 24 hours, informed health authorities on Friday.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Latur district was worst-affected as it recorded 622 new cases and 32 deaths, followed by Aurangabad which had 631 cases and 22 deaths,Beed had 1015 cases and 18 deaths, Nanded had 292 new cases and 15 deaths, Jalna recorded 581 cases and 11 deaths,Parbhani had 478 cases and 11 deaths, Osmanabad registered 623 cases and 8 deaths and Hingoli registered 103 cases and 2 deaths.
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 42,582 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 52,69,292.
The state also registered 850 more deaths, taking the death toll to 78,857.
Meanwhile, a record 54,535 patients recovered in the state, taking the total number of recoveries to 46,54,731.
The state’s recovery rate currently stands at 88.34 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.5 per cent.
At present, there are 5,33,294 active cases across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, added the health authorities.
In view of the rising number of cases, the state government has extended the strict restrictions under the initiative of ‘Break The Chain’ across the state up to May 31.
