Mayawati demands withdrawal of covid protocol violation cases

Lucknow, Feb 20 : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Saturday demanded the Uttar Pradesh government to withdraw the cases filed in connection with the coronavirus lockdown violation while thanking Tamil Nadu government for doing the same.

In a tweet, Ms Mayawati said that Tamil Nadu government has announced the withdrawal of 10 lakh cases filed against the corona lockdown and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The decision is justified even though it is for electoral benefit. This will provide relief to the innocent people while the court will also have lesser burden.

In another tweet, she also demanded the Uttar Pradesh government to do the same. The BSP chief said that people are sad and perturbed owing to lakhs of similar pending matters in Uttar Pradesh also. The UP government should also consider the matter with sensitivity so that people can get relief.
