Srinagar, Oct 28 : Former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said the “crackdown” on Kashmiri students after the India-Pakistan match both within J&K and outside is “reprehensible”.

She said this in response to a tweet that revealed that three Kashmir students have been arrested in Agra despite “no anti-national” act.

“Crackdown on Kashmiri students both within J&K & outside is reprehensible. Situation in J&K after two years of suppression should’ve been an eye opener for the government & lead to course correction.BJPs pseudo patriotism disregards the idea of India. Release these students immediately,” Mufti said in a tweet.

Earlier this week, Jammu and Kashmir Police registered two FIRs under the stringent anti-terror law against medical students for raising pro-Pakistan slogans and celebrating Pakistan victory against India in the T20 World Cup in Dubai.

The cases were registered after videos purportedly showing medical students at two college hostels – Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar and Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS)- shouting pro-Pak slogans emerged on social media.
