Patna: Senior leader Nagmani today resigned from Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) two days after being removed from the acting president of the party’s Bihar unit.
The former Union minister Nagmani, who is known for changing parties in quick succession, was not feeling comfortable with Kushwaha who recently joined maha gathbandhan after resigning from the Narendra Modi cabinet and the NDA.
Kushwaha was angry with Nagmani when the later shared dais with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar a few days back on the occasion of the unveiling of the statue to his father Jagdeo Prasad by the CM. He praised Nitish for his move and was critical of Kushwaha who in a quick retaliation removed him from the party post.
After resigning from the RLSP on Sunday Nagmani, who and his wife were ministers in Nitish earlier cabinet, came down heavily on Kushwaha calling him a leader without mass base and said he (Nagmani) was the leader of Kushwaha or Koeri caste still he accepted Kushwaha as leader and was making efforts to make him CM.
Nagmani did not reveal whcih party he would join but sources said he might join the JD(U) and might bargain for a Lok Sabha seat for himself from Chatra in Jharkhand which he once represented on RJD ticket.
Nagmani was also suspecting that he might not get ticket in the maha gathbandhan as RJD was not favouring him. Kushwaha too is not very comfortable in the gran alliance as he is not getting as much attention by the RJD leadership as he was expecting when he quit the NDA in hope of getting more seats. The NDA was ready to give him 2 to 3 seats but he wanted more and tried to bargain hard with the BJP leadership. However, later on the BJP leadership including Narendra Modi and Amit Shah ignored his requests for appointment.
