Mumbai, Mar 24 : Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will extend support to the ‘Bharat Bandh’ on March 26 called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), state president and Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil said here on Wednesday.
A statement issued by Mr Patil said, “For more than 100 days, farmers in the country have been protesting on the streets against the central government’s black agriculture law.
More than 300 farmers have been martyred during this agitation. On top of that the rising cost of gas cylinders has broken the backbone of the common man”.
This is why the farmers have called for a Bharat Bandh and the NCP has decided to publicly supported this call and movement. It may be noted that NCP state government ally Congress has already declared its support to the farmers movement.
