Kolkata, Mar 7 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to have a big rally in Kolkata’s historic Brigade parade ground on Sunday.
This will be Mr Modi’s first rally in the state since the election commission announced the dates for the assembly election. However, PM Modi has visited the state multiple times in the past few months. The rally is scheduled to begin at 2 pm.
Modi is scheduled to hold more than 20 rallies in the state over the course of the election, with the last phase on April 29.
Banners, posters and cutouts of the PM have been put up across the city to welcome him, with the party organising flash mobs over the past few weeks in the run-up to the rally. Several top BJP leaders are expected to be present at the meeting.
The preparations are in full swing for the PM Modi rally. As per report, police will use drone cameras to monitor the situation. More than 1,500 CCTV cameras have been installed across the city for security purposes
Meanwhile, veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty arrived at the brigade parade ground to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s electioneering for the BJP
It was not immediately known if the actor to join the saffron brigade.
There are rumours floating around about veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty joining BJP at this rally, however, BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said nothing has been discussed regarding Chakraborty’s joining the party.

BJP state president Dilip Ghosh said their rally would surpass (in term of attendance of people) all the previous meetings held at the specious Brigade Parade Grounds, the largest open green space in the city.
The BJP leader has asked all the district heads to ensure maximum attendance for the PM’s rally to display the party strength in organising the masses from all walks of life.
Sources said the party has aimed to gather some 100,0000 (Ten lakh people) for the rally.
Assembly elections in West Bengal will be held in eight phases from March 27 to April 29 and the results for the polls to the 294-seat assembly will be declared on May 2.
Meanwhile, chief minister Mamata Banerjee is also set to hold a roadshow against the rising LPG price.
