Perth, Nov 18 : The Indian cricket team has successfully concluded day three of their warmup match at the iconic WACA ground, with both the younger and experienced players showing significant progress in adapting to Australian conditions ahead of the upcoming Test series.

Abhishek Nayar, the team’s assistant coach, shared insights into the team’s preparation. “Before coming to Australia, we had a discussion about what we wanted to achieve over these three days,” Nayar said.

“The main goal was to ensure that both the younger and experienced players had enough time in the middle to adjust and get familiar with the conditions, especially since it’s been four years since we last played Test cricket,” he said.

Nayar also explained the approach taken during the warmup. “We initially allowed players a second chance if they got out. We found that during their second attempt, they adapted much better, understood the conditions more effectively, and became more comfortable. This strategy helped us achieve the desired results.”

The second day of practice followed a similar format, with additional focus on quality net sessions, balancing both quantity and skill development. “Today, our emphasis was more on the bowlers, getting their workloads up. Each bowler managed to bowl around 15-18 overs to get into the right game rhythm,” Nayar added.

Former South African fast bowler, who is Team India Bowling Coach, expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the bowlers. “We’re very happy with how the bowlers have performed. They assessed the conditions well, and we’re on track for November 22nd (First Test). We still have three training sessions left, and we’ll sit down later today or tomorrow to plan our strategies and look at how we can bring out the best in everyone for the upcoming game.”

The warm-up match has proven to be an important part of the team’s preparation, and with the Test series fast approaching, the Indian squad is optimistic about their readiness to take on the Australian challenge.
