Jaunpur, Dec 20 : Union Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday urged the voters of Uttar Pradesh to re-elect the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming assembly elections as the government plans to spend Rs 5 lakh crore on important road projects in the next five years.
Gadkari along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stones of three national highway projects in Jaunpur’s Machhlishahr at a cost of Rs 1,123 crores.
Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, Gadkari said there was no shortage of funds for development schemes especially for road projects.
He said, “I have a Ministry where there is no shortage of money. States will get tired of asking, but we will not get tired of giving.”
“Let the double engine government be formed, I promise that in the coming five five years, projects worth Rs 5 lakh crore will be done in UP,” he said, referring to BJP governments both in the Centre and in the state.
The Minister said Adityanath had brought the state on the path of development by eliminating mafias.
“Yogiji has uprooted goonda raj from UP and Mafia raaj has been buried under the bulldozer. If Ram Rajya is envisioned, it seems to be coming true in UP,” Gadkari said.
