Bankura, Mar 27 : The voters, mostly from the tribal community, of Jamthol booth, under Chatna, in Bankura district have called for boycotting the assembly polls for being deprived of a safe bridge on the Jamthol river.

The people in the area put up posters in the village calling on the voters to refrain from voting to protest against administrative neglect.

The current bridge, erected nearly 70 years ago, is in a dilapidated state. Crossing the bridge is hazardous, particularly during monsoon, and they have to wade through the river to avoid its collapse.

Meanwhile, police arrested four suspects at Salboni in West Medinipur in relation to attack on CPI(M) candidate Sushanta Ghosh, whose car was also allegedly vandalised this morning in poll bound area.

The district administration in a report to the ECI said the man whose body was found in West Medinipur’s Keshiary did not die of election-related violence.
