Lucknow, Sep 21 : Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president and MLA Om Prakash Rajbhar on Wednesday claimed that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has agreed to his demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for the Rajbhar community and assured to fulfill it.
A day after meeting Adityanath, addressing a press conference Rajbhar said that he put forth a demand for ST status to the Rajbhar caste before the CM.
He said that the CM while agreeing to this said that the state government has sent a proposal in this regard to the central government.
Rajbhar said, “I met Chief Minister Yogi last night and he spoke to me in detail. During the meeting I demanded from him that Bhar and Rajbhar castes should be given ST status to which the CM agreed.”
He said that Chief Minister Yogi has sent a proposal to the Central Government regarding these castes. He assured that ST status will be given to Rajbhar society. It is noteworthy that in the present system, the Rajbhar community is included in the Other Backward Classes.
The SBSP chief said that CM Yogi has sent a proposal to the central government related to these two castes. He said that the CM has assured that ST status will be given to the Rajbhar community.
It may be noted that currently the Rajbhar community is included in the Other Backward Classes (OBC).
Rajbhar said, “We are fighting for the betterment of the society. Samajwadi Party (SP) only showed the dream of uplifting Bhar and Rajbhar castes. Why didn’t Akhilesh send a proposal to the central government when he was in power?.”
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi and said that they are working for the welfare of the backwards. He said that CM Yogi has given necessary instructions to the Social Welfare Department regarding the issues related to Rajbhar caste.
Rajbhar said that during the meeting he requested Yogi not to demolish the houses of the poor in the process of removing the illegal construction done by the mafia elements. “I have requested CM Yogi not to demolish the houses of the poor under the guise of the mafia.”
He said that his party will take out ‘Sawdhaan Yatra’ in the state from September 26. I will go to the districts and warn the public that the previous governments indulged in vote bank politics and will make the public aware of such political parties,” he said.
It may be mentioned that that SBSP had contested the assembly elections held in March last as an ally of the SP-led coalition. After the defeat of the alliance in the elections, when the Yogi government returned to power again, SBSP parted ways from the alliance.
