PM Modi condoles the death of labourers death
Shivamogga, Jan 22 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has condoled the loss of lives in an incident
of a stone quarry blast, which took place at the outskirts of the city last night, in which eight people
had been killed and several others sustained injuries.
The Prime minister in a Twitter message had stated that “Pained by the loss of lives in Shivamogga. Condolences
to the bereaved families”.
The Prime minister in his message also assured to secure all possible assistance to the affected in the incident.
Meanwhile, Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, expressing shock over the incident, had sought an immediate
report over the incident and had also ordered for a high-level inquiry into the incident.
It may be recalled in a powerful blast, caused by gelatin sticks stored in a truck that had reverberated the city
and people had come out from their houses, fearing an earthquake.
The high-intensity blast took place near Hunasodu village located in the outskirts of the city, and the entire
truck, which was carrying the blasting material tore to pieces.
All the victims were reportedly hailed from Bihar, and working at the stone crushing site as labourers, the sources added.
