New Delhi, Apr 26 : A Delhi Court on Monday granted bail to Punjabi actor-turned-activist Deep Sidhu in a case filed by Archeological Survey of India (ASI) alleging damage and vandalism at Red Fort on January 26.

Metropolitan Magistrate MM Sahil Gupta granted bail to Sidhu on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 with one surety of like amount.

“The accused has already been interrogated in Police Custody for 14 days and has been in custody for about 70 days when he has been granted regular bail by Additional Sessions Judge on similar facts.

Any further restraint upon his liberty would be neither logical nor legal,” the Court asserted.

On February 9, Deep Sidhu was arrested in connection with the Red Fort farmers’ protest violence on Republic Day.

He was arrested on charges of inciting protesters during the tractor rally which was organised by farmers protesting against the three contentious farm bills on January 26.

Just hours after getting bail on April 16, Sidhu was arrested again based on an FIR filed by the ASI.
