New Delhi, Nov 29 : Five newly-elected members of the Rajya Sabha took oath on Monday as the House convened on the first day of Winter session of Parliament.

While Rajani Ashokrao Patil took the oath of allegiance to the Constitution as member from the Congress representing Maharashtra, Luizinho Faleiro took the oath as member representing West Bengal.

Three members of DMK – M Mohamed Abdulla, KRN Rajesh Kumar and Kanimozhi NVN Somu took oath as members representing the state of Tamil Nadu.

House Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu made obituary references to the sitting and former members, who passed away recently, including sitting member late Oscar Fernandes and five former members – KB Shanappa, Chandan Mitra, Hari Singh Nalwa, Monika Das and Abani Roy.

The House was later adjourned for an hour till 1219 hrs.
