Lucknow ,Nov 24 : Congress and BSP faced another major setback in Uttar Pradesh before the crucial assembly polls, when rebel Congress MLA Aditi Singh from Rae Bareli’s Sadar seat joined the BJP here on Wednesday.

Along with Aditi, rebel BSP MLA from Sagri seat of Azamgarh district Vandana Singh also joined the BJP.

Ms Vandana Singh was also suspended by the BSP for anti party activities.

Vandana said that BSP never heard her side of the story and suspended her without any reason. Thereafter I met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and he asked me to join the BJP, she said.

Leaders of various political parties took membership of the BJP in presence of BJP State President Swatantra Dev Singh at the party state headquarters.

Mr Singh, welcoming both the leaders, said these sitting MLAs joining the BJP gives the clear picture of what will happen in the 2022 Assembly polls

Rebel Congress MLA from Rae Bareli Sadar Aditi Singh has been criticizing the Congress and appreciating the policies of the BJP government for a long time.

The Congress party had also served her a notice. Recently, Aditi Singh had clearly said that she wants to be a part of CM Yogi Adityanath’s team and claimed that CM Yogi is the most popular Chief Minister and by being a part of his team, I will be able to do better for her assembly constituency.

Aditi Singh had even criticised Priyanka Gandhi saying she is only doing drama. “If she had been aware of women, she would have first acted against her personal secretary Sandeep Singh, who has been booked for molesting a woman”, Aditi said while adding that Congress General Secretary is only doing politics and they have no issues.

In the 2017 elections, Aditi became the heir to the father’s political legacy. She became MLA by winning the election on a Congress ticket. However, for almost a year and a half, he kept himself ideologically separated from the Congress. Along with this, she kept giving rebellious statements against the party.

According to sources, her husband Angad Singh Saini, who is a Congress MLA from Punjab’s Nawanshahr seat, may suffer a major loss due to her joining the BJP. Rae Bareli is the parliamentary constituency of Congress President Sonia Gandhi. In such a situation, the switch by Aditi can be prove disastrous for her husband.

Aditi Singh is the daughter of former Sadar MLA Akhilesh Singh. Akhilesh Singh passed away in August in the year 2019. Akhilesh was a five-time MLA from Rae Bareli Sadar seat. He had a good presence in Rae Bareli and was also close to the Gandhi family. Aditi Singh left the Congress after the death of her father. Not only this, she openly spoke against the Congress. On November 21, 2019, Aditi Singh got married to Angad Saini, Congress MLA from Punjab.
