Lucknow, Dec 29 : Uttar Pradesh government while claiming to have made payment of most of the dues of the cane farmers in the state said on Wednesday that under the Yogi regime figures of payment had crossed Rs 1.50 lakh crore.
As per the information provided by the Chief Minister’s office Yogi government has made a payment of Rs 1.51 lakh crore as dues so far. It may be noted that non-payment of dues in the last few decades has been posing serious problems for farmers in the state.
The government while citing official figures has claimed that so much payment was never made before 2017 during the 10 years regime of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP). As per the figures of the agriculture department between 2012 to 2017 during SP regime made a total payment of dues worth Rs 95,000 crore.
Prior to this during the BSP regime a total payment of Rs 55,000 crore was made between 2007 to 2012. whereas under the Yogi government a total payment of Rs 1,51,508 crore has been made so far.
