Religious Temple : Jeweller gifts 3 kg gold crown “Pandian Kondai’ to Parthasarathy

Swamy temple Chennai, Oct 27 : A Chennai-based jeweller todayoffered a three kg gold crown –‘Pandian Kondai’–to the famousSri Parthasarathy temple at Triplicane in the city.

The gold crown was gifted by Jayanthilal Challani, whoruns a jewellery business at the upmarket T Nagar area, in thecity.

Mr Jayanthilal along with his family members offered thecrown, decorated with diamond and emerald stones, to the Lord. It was adored on the Utsavar deity Lord Parthasarathy at the temple amid chanting of vedic and religious hymns.

He said it took 11 months to make the ‘Pandian kondai’and it was designed and crafted at his goldsmith workshop in the city. A similar crown was presented to Lord Ranganathaswamy of Srirangam by a Pandia king. Before gifting it to the temple, this artistic marvel waskept on display at the jewellery showroom for public view.
