New Delhi, Oct 9 : Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Saturday said that the union minister Ajay Mishra was the mastermind of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence and alleged that the incident was aimed at terrorising people to shut their voice.
The Morcha also termed the incident as an act of terror and said that BJP is trying to dislodge the current agitation by resorting to violence.
“The BJP wants to force the farmers to use violence. But farmers will continue to use non-violent methods,” said SKM leader Darshan Pal while addressing a press conference here.
The Morcha demanded the resignation of the MoS Home Ajay Mishra and his arrested on charges of spreading disharmony, and murder and conspiracy.
He said that the possibility of further attack on the farmers is very much is there.
“Background for the Lakhimpur Kheri’s violence was prepared by Ajay Mishra Teni’s September 25 speech. We have accessed the video from his Facebook live. He had said that they will throw out those working in Lakhimpur Kheri by taking the land on lease. It makes things clear,” said Dr Darshan Pal.
“The whole truth of this incident has been revealed to the country through all the videos that have become public so far. It is clear that this incident did not happen suddenly,” he said.
The umbrella body of the farmers’ union also reiterated their demand for the resignation of Ajay Mishra from his post and asked the UP government to arrest his son Ashish Mishra immediately, whose car allegedly rammed into farmers during the protest at Tikunia in Lakhimpur, killing 4 farmers.
They said if his son Ashish Mishra and his associates were not arrested, the Morcha will hold a nationwide protest.
“The Lakhimpur Kheri massacre will be remembered as a painful chapter in the history of the farm movement of India and it has completely exposed the character of the union government and Uttar Pradesh government,” it said in a statement.
Criticizing the police role in it, activist Yogendra Yadav said the way the police is doing the investigation in the case is an eyewash and we are not satisfied by their actions.
He alleged that this incident has completely exposed the character of the union government, the Uttar Pradesh government, and the Bharatiya Janata Party which is in power at both places.
The SKM also threatened the government, “If it did not meet our demands, we will organise “Rail Roko” Abhiyaan on October 18 and Mahapanchayat on October 26 in Lucknow,”.
“On the occasion of Dussehra, October 15, the effigies of Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and local leaders will be burnt,” it said.
SKM also appeals to the farmers of Uttar Pradesh and all over the country to pay tribute to the “martyr farmers” by attending the Antim Ardas on October 12 at Tikonia, Lakhimpur Kheri.
Bharatiya Kisan Union spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, and CPIM leader Hannan Mullah among other activists were present at the SKM event.
