Sensex down over 200 pts

Mumbai, Oct 18 : The BSE Sensex continued to slip on Friday too, declining 257 pts to open at 80,749.26 as selling was seen in Consumer Discretionary Goods and Services, Energy and IT stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 30.55 pts at 24,719.30. The Sensex registered intra and high and low at 80,951.65 and 80,409.25 pts respectively.
The NSE registered days high and low at 24,754 and 24,567.65 pts respectively. The Mid cap fell by 0.17 pc and small cap 0.43 pc.
In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.
The losers were Infosys by 4.32 pc to Rs 1884.35, ITC by 1.80 pc to Rs 480, Nestle India Ltd by 1.49 pc to Rs 2344.25 and Tech Mahindra by 1.39 pc to Rs 1676.
The gainers were Axis Bank by 4.67 pc to Rs 1185, Tata Motors by 1.88 pc to Rs 908.50, NTPC by 1.20 pc to Rs 422.45 and Tata Steel by 0.85 pc to Rs 153.80.
