Sensex falls 98 points

Mumbai, Aug 13 : The BSE Sensex remained weak on Tuesday too, declining 98 points to open at 79,552.51 as selling was seen in metal, oil, gas, and energy stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) eased 18.65 points to 24,328.35 points.

The BSE registered intraday highs and lows at 79,692.55 and 79,466.79 points, respectively.

The NSE registered days as high and low at 24,359.95 and 24,299.40 points, respectively.

The Mid Cap gained 0.01 pc and the Small Cap gained 0.42 pc.

In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 7 declined.

The losers were HDFC Bank by 2.31 percent to Rs 1622.70, Tata Motors by 0.91 percent to Rs 1066.35, Asian Paints by 0.70 percent to Rs 3030.20, and Hind Unilever by 0.38 percent to Rs 2737.80.

The gainers were HCL Technologies by 1 pc to Rs 1600.45, Axis Bank by 0.97 pc to Rs 1175.50, ICICI Bank by 0.87 pc to Rs 1183.20, and L&T by 0.80 pc to Rs 3599.15.
