Sensex falls over 100 points

Mumbai, Aug 21 : The BSE Sensex on Wednesday slipped 135 points to open at 80,667.25 as selling was seen in Financial services, Bankex and Realty stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) eased 18 points to 24,680.55.
Surging over 300 pts on Tuesday, the equity market opened on a weak note, as the BSE registered intraday highs and lows at 80,897.09 and 80,627.03 points, respectively.

The NSE registered days high and low at 24,753.95 and 24,654.50 points, respectively.

The midcap gained 0.34 pc and the smallcap gained 0.64 pc.
In 30 scrips, 14 advanced while 16 declined.

The losers were Ultracemco by 1.68 pc to Rs 11197.30, ICICI Bank by 0.84 pc to Rs 1170, Tata Steel by 0.75 pc to Rs 152.85 and IndusInd Bank by 0.70 pc to Rs 1371.80.

The gainers were Bajaj Finserv by 1.39 pc to Rs 1624.65, Adani Ports by 1.24 pc to Rs 1510.70, ITC by 1.07 pc to Rs 504.20 and Asian Paints by 0.91 pc to Rs 3130.
