Shakeel Ahmad new leader of Congress legislative party in Assembly

Patna, June 3 : Senior party MLA Shakeel Ahmad Khan was elected new leader of Congress Legislative Party(CLP) in Bihar Assembly on Saturday.
Congress MLC Premchandra Mishra told media persons here that Ahmad was unanimously elected leader of CLP in Bihar Assembly replacing Ajit Sharma. Sharma was CLP leader since the year 2020 when last Bihar Assembly elections was held, he added.
Mishra said that All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary
and in-charge of party affairs of Bihar Bhakt Charan Das, Tarique Anwar and Shakti Singh Gohil besides president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) Akhilesh Singh were among senior leaders of the party who were present on the occasion, he added.
” BPCC president Singh and outgoing leader of CLP Sharma, both belong to same caste and a decision was taken to replace Sharma to balance caste equation”, Congress leader said adding that his p had always been in favour of giving representation to all sections of the society in important positions. There was complete unanimity among legislators to elect Ahmad in place of Sharma and those who could not attend meeting, had given their consent in favour of Ahmad through telephonic conversation, he added.
Mishra said that performance of Sharma as CLP leader was appreciated through a resolution adopted in the meeting. In another resolution, tributes were paid to those who lost their lives in train accident in Odisha, he further said adding that party leaders expressed their happiness over splendid victory of Congress in recently held Karnataka Assembly elections.
