Six killed as bus-truck collision at Dhaka-Mawa highway in B’desh

Dhaka, Apr 20 : At least six people were killed, and many others injured as a passenger bus collided with a truck on the Dhaka-Mawa expressway on Thursday morning in Bangladesh.

The accident took place around 9am at Shologhar area under Sreenagar upazila in Munshiganj. The deceased could not be identified immediately.

Quoting eyewitnesses, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreenagar Police Station Hedayetul Islam Bhuiyan said a passenger bus of Padma Express lost control on the Dhaka-Mawa expressway and hit a truck from behind while it was trying to overtake another bus. Then one side of the bus got twisted. Two people died on the spot and many others were injured in this connection.

The injured were taken to nearby hospital where four others succumbed to their injuries upon arrival.

The OC said that the death toll may rise.
