Hyderabad, Dec 27 : Six Maoists were allegedly killed in an exchange of gunfire with security forces at a forest area on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border area on Monday morning, police said.
The incident took place between 0630 hours and 0700 hours at South Bastar area under Sukma district (Telangana-Chhattisgarh border) when the police party had carried combing operation in the forest area on a piece of tip-off information, according to Bhadradri Kothagudem district police.
It was a joint operation by Telangana and Chhattisgarh police.
According to information received here, recovered six bodies from the spot and also weapons.
A combing operation is continuing and additional forces were also deployed.
