Jammu, Mar 30 : Asserting that Birpur, located in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, have rich potential in sports field, the locals have called on Sarpanch and Gram Pradhan demanding that the work on multi-tasked Stadium at the identified location must be expedited.
As per reports, the locals from Birpur have called on Sarpanch, Gram Pradhan Ms Veena Jamwal to chalk out various steps for sports promotion in the area.
The locals expressed gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir Government, Secretary, Sports Council and other officials of the department for considering their long pending demands for construction of sports Stadium.
“This proposal must be placed on Capex on priority so that construction work of the stadium begins at the earliest and expedited,” they said.
Birpur Sports Club has a history of its existence and there is an indispensable need of equipping it with facilities while the locals demanded that a memorandum must be submitted to the Sports Council for further action.
The visitors also apprised the Sarpanch that the volleyball court shall be uplifted to national level so that more youth can be attracted towards the sport.
The village head along with natives expressed thanks to the government authorities and demanded that the work should further be paced up for sports promotion in the bordering village.
“The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is already prepared for this project and the stadium is to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.47 crores,” an official said.
