Kolkata, Nov 10 : BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has slammed the Mamata Banerjee government for appointing her former finance minister Amit Mitra as the adviser to CM, saying ” WB emulates Pakistan by appointing Amit Mitra as an adviser to Chief Minister days after Shaukat Tarin, formerly Finance Minister of Pak was appointed as adviser to the Pak PM.”
Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Suvendu Adhikari asked if it was an ” Eerie coincidence or seeking inspiration?”.
The Mamata Banerjee government on Tuesday appointed her former finance minister 73-year-old Amit Mitra as the principal chief adviser to the chief minister as well as the finance department, in the rank of a cabinet minister.
” Advise and aid the chief minister and finance department on all matters relating to the management of state finance,” a government notification on the appointment of Dr Amit Mitra, said.
He would “represent the state government on national and international events/meeting committees as per the desire of the state government,” the notification on the appointment said.
Mamata Banerjee in a minor reshuffle of her six months old third ministry kept the state finance department.
Hours after the appointment of Dr Mitra, Suvendu Adhikari wrote on his Twitter account that ” Eerie coincidence or seeking inspiration? WB emulates Pakistan by appointing Amit Mitra as adviser to CM days after Shaukat Tarin, the former Finance Minister of Pak was appointed as adviser to the Pak PM. Both were Finance Ministers with Constitutional tenures coming to an end !!!”
