Kabul, Dec 27 : Co-education is one of the main reasons for closure of universities in Afghanistan, said Abdul Baqi Haqqani, Taliban-appointed minister.

More time and extra budget is needed as they have to form separate classes for girl and also employ extra lecturers, Khaama Press reported on Sunday.

No country will be permitted to give scholarships and funds directly to the people, the Taliban minister said, adding that the present Ministry of Higher Education will manage the scholarships.

A number of schools and universities in Afghanistan have been closed for girl students above the class 7 since Taliban’s takeover.
