Patna, Dec 2 : Leader of the opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav today said
that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had assured to call all party meeting on caste census within
two to four days to discuss modalities for conducting caste census in a fixed time frame.
Mr Yadav told media persons in Assembly premises that all party delegation had called on Chief Minister Mr Kumar today who assured that all party meeting would be called in two to four days to discuss modalities for caste census.
It was certain that caste census would be conducted in Bihar as Chief Minister Mr Kumar had earlier clearly indicated for conducting caste census at state government expenses if Centre declined to go for caste census, he added.
Leader of the opposition said that resolution was was passed unanimously in Assembly on two occasions, requesting Centre to conduct caste census along with general census. All party
delegation had also called on Chief Minister Mr Kumar during Monsoon session of the House and requested him to seek appointment from PM for a discussion on castes census.
Leaders of all parties including him led by Mr Kumar had called on PM Narendra Modi on August 23 and urged him to reconsider decision of the government on caste census, he added. Centre was still adamant on not conducting caste census, so there was need for carrying out
caste census at its own expenses in Bihar, he noted.
Mr Yadav said that it would have been matter of pleasure for him, had Mr Kumar announced for
caste census in current session of the House itself.
He had earlier suggested Mr Kumar to conduct caste census at state government expenses in
Bihar if Centre declined to give green signal for caste census as his party RJD was sincere and committed for welfare and development of all sections of the society, Mr Yadav added.
