Lucknow, Aug 30 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, choosing the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, released financial assistance of Rs 1341.17 crore to 2.853 lakh beneficiaries in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U).
Releasing the assistance to the beneficiaries via video conferencing on Monday, the CM said, “It is a matter of great happiness that on the auspicious day of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, all of you have got the fund under PMAY.”
Expressing confidence on his government, he said, “When a good government is elected, every citizen of the state gets all the benefits of the schemes with complete transparency and without any discrimination.”
In this virtual programme organised at the Chief Minister’s residence, over 50,000 people were associated with more than 650 urban bodies of the state.
Under PM Awas Yojana (Urban), as many as 98,234 people got the first installment, 34,369 got the second and 68,250 beneficiaries got the third installment.
While sending the money directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, the CM said, “Now the money is transferred through DBT which helps in crackdown on corruption and middlemen in the system and earlier, when the money was shared without DBT, out of Rs 100 only Rs 15 was received by the beneficiary.”
He also assured that if any person needs money for housing or a loan for business and if he qualifies the eligibility criteria then without any recommendation or bribe, he will get full support from the Government.
Earlier, mothers and sisters had to line up to withdraw money from banks from their Jan Dhan accounts, but for their convenience, the State Government launched the BC Sakhi scheme to make the process more convenient for them.
While interacting with the Chief Minister in the programme, the beneficiaries of PM Awas and Svanidhi Yojana said, “We did not need to give bribe-recommendation anywhere.”
In the last 4.5 years, the state Government has provided over 40 lakh houses under PMAY-G. He said that before 2017, UP was nowhere in PM Awas Yojana, or Svanidhi Yojana but as soon as our Government came into power, Uttar Pradesh clinched the first position in providing roofs to residents of the state under PMAY.
Stating that no one before PM Modi ever thought in the interests of street vendors, the CM said, “Today, money is being provided to the traders of handcarts for business and with the help of SHGs, we are also putting all the efforts to make women self-reliant.”
While interacting with the Chief Minister in the programme, the beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana and Svanidhi Yojana thanked the CM for providing all the benefits of the schemes. Be it Sushila of Prayagraj, Nirmala of Mirzapur or Reshma of Jhansi, they all told the CM that they neither had to bribe nor recommend anyone to get money for housing.
Manju, from Barabanki, said, “Today, I received the third installment of my housing loan. My children are also getting free education under the Yogi Government.” Earlier she got free electricity, gas connection, Jan Dhan account, and free ration twice a month.
Pawan, who set up a tea stall in Agra Shilpgram and Sheela Devi, who owns a vegetable shop in Varanasi, thanked PM Modi and CM Yogi for providing them the benefits of SVANidhi scheme.
Om Prakash of Lalitpur said that no government has given him anything for the last 30 years, but under the Yogi Government, he is getting everything. The CM also directed for all necessary arrangements for the treatment of the deaf son of Omprakash.
