UP governor, CM express grief over stampede at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine

Lucknow, Jan 1 : Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have expressed profound grief over the stampede at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

The Governor while paying tributes to those killed in the stampede has expressed her heartfelt condolences towards their families. She has expressed her wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.

It may be noted that at least 12 pilgrims were killed and 13 others injured in the incident.

In his condolence message Chief Minister Yogi said, “My heart is deeply pained by the unfortunate accident at Mata Vaishno Devi Dham. May Maa Adishakti give peace to the souls of those who died in the accident and speedy recovery to those injured in the accident. My condolences are with the bereaved families.”

Leaders of various parties have also expressed grief over the incident. Former UP CM and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said a tragic incident of stampede was reported in Mata Vaishno Devi temple with the new dawn of the new year. He said the tragic death of a dozen pilgrims and injuries to many others in this accident left the mind disturbed. “Expressing our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, we wish the injured a speedy recovery,” Akhilesh said.
