Lucknow, Mar 8 : Even as Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra leaving no stone unturned in Uttar Pradesh to revive the party before the 2022 Assembly polls, but the appointment of the party’s two Lucknow city chiefs has created confusion in the party which triggered ‘bickering’ among the leaders.
In Lucknow city, where the party had appointed the city president Mukesh Singh Chauhan on December 24, 2019, who worked tirelessly during the lockdown period for the party, the party state unit appointed two city presidents, one for North Lucknow and another for South Lucknow, and that too ‘without informing’ or removing the present city chief.
The party is also in a move to appoint three more city presidents for each, west and central zones.
Though Mr Chauhan is yet to put down his papers, the party leaders organised the oath of the new two city president Ajay Kumar Srivastava alias Ajju (North) and Dilpreet Singh (South) on Sunday. While Ajay was appointed on January 8,2021, Dilpreet was appointed on March 1, 2021.
A senior party leader here on Monday said that such confusion will demoralise the parry leaders who had put all their power to strenghten the party.
“Mukesh Singh Chauhan is a born Congressman and was the ward councillor in Lucknow. But his sudden removal without any reason has confused the rank and file in the capital city,” another leader on condition of anonymity said.
