Lucknow, Dec 8 : A short but important winter session of the Uttar Pradesh state legislature has been convened from December 15, it was announced here on Wednesday.
This is expected to be the last session of the 17th assembly as elections are expected in February-March next year.
The notification for conveying the session was issued by UP assembly secretariat here on Wednesday.
On December 6 last, state cabinet had approved the holding of all winter sessions from December 15.
During the brief session, the government is likely to approve vote-on- accounts for the first four months of the next fiscal.
A government official said that second supplementary grants for the current fiscal would be sought in this session, which is expected to be very short.
“This session would be short because Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wants to hold the cabinet meeting in Kashi Vishwanath compound,” said the official.
He said the government wants to hold this session on such short notice because of khar mass (inauspicious month) beginning from December 19.
