Will talk to my counterpart: Bommai on M’rashtra ministers’ visit to Belagavi

Hubballi, Dec 5 : Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said he would once again talk to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde over the planned visit of Maharashtra ministers to Belagavi amidst border row.

“Under the prevailing circumstances, visiting Belagavi is nothing, but instigating people. I will talk to my Maharashtra counterpart (Shinde) once again,” he told reporters at the airport here.
Bommai said he has asked them in writing not to visit Belagavi in view of the prevailing situation. “In Spite of this, they have reiterated their visit to Belagavi, which is not advisable as of now,” he said.
In case Maharashtra ministers visit Belagavi, the authorities will take suitable action as per the law, Bommai said.

“The state government will not hesitate to take action. The kind of actions that were taken in the past would be taken this time too,” he said.

According to Karnataka, its border dispute with Maharashtra is a closed chapter. “There has been cordial relationship between the people of Maharashtra and Karnataka, but Maharashtra has moved the Supreme Court,” he added.

Asked about the demand to open saffron schools along with separate colleges for the Muslim girls, Bommai said the first and the foremost aim of his government is to provide quality education to children.
