Four arrested for helping Amritpal escape

Shakot (Jalandhar), Mar 23 : The Shahkot police have arrested four accused on the charges of helping ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amrit Pal Singh in escaping.
The Station House Officer (SHO) Gurindarjit Singh Nagra said today that the accused have been identified as Manpreet Singh alias Manna, Harpreet Singh alias Happy, Gurbhej Singh alias Bheja and Gurdeep Singh alias Deepa.
SHO said that the police has also recovered a Brezza car which was used by Amritpal Singh on Saturday to flee. The car was parked in a shed adjoining house of Manna, adding that the accused also provided two motorcycles to radical preacher to flee from Nangal Ambian village.
Police said that a 315-bore rifle, 50 cartridges, a Walkie Talkie set, a mobile phone and dresses of Amrit Pal Singh were recovered from the said car. The dresses were used by Amrit Pal Singh to dodge the police.
A case under sections 212 and 216 (harbouring offender whose apprehension has been ordered) and sections 25/27 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on, added police.
