431 naxal militia, sympathizers surrender in Odisha in last ten years

Bhubaneswar, August 1 : As many as 431 Naxals, Militia and Naxal sympathisers have surrendered in Odisha during the last ten years and returned to the mainstream, Minister of
state for Home Tusharkanti Behera told the state Assembly on Monday.
Replying to a question of Soumyaranjan Patnaik (BJD), the Minister said out of the 431 who surrendered during 2012 to 2022 as many as 224 eligible Maoists were covered under the Surrendered and Rehabilitation policy of the state government.
Behera said a sum of over Rs 6.73 crore was spent for their rehabilitation.
During the period, the Minister said Rs 557,62,86,749 was spent on Security Related Expenditure
to counter Naxals in the state.
The allowances of the central jawans are not covered under the scheme, he said.
