Itanagar, July 27 : Registering its strong protest against the BJP-led dispensation at the Centre, the Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress on Wednesday burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for ‘arresting’ (detaining) former Congress president Rahul Gandhi while staging a peaceful dharna at Vijay Chowk outside Parliament in protest against ED questioning of party chief Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald money laundering case and price rise.
Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) president Tarh Johny, while burning the effigies, said: “Today is the Black day of democracy in this country. It is anarchy & dictatorship enforced on the common man who is already under the burden of price rise, GST, unemployment and harassment.”
Johny said, national president of Indian Youth Congress Srinivas BV was also manhandled and tortured by Delhi Police while in the peaceful protest and was also arrested later.
“APYC condemns such acts of BJP Government at highest level and terms such acts as means to lower the voice against draconian government. Indian democracy is at high threat under the BJP leaders,” alleged the Youth Congress leader.
