Mumbai, Aug 1 : The BSE Sensex on Monday advanced 545.25 pts at 58,115.50 following gains in Power, Utilities, Auto and Consumer Discretionary Goods and Services stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 181.80 pts at 17,340.05.
The Sensex gained 253 pts at 57,823.10.
It spurted 600 pts at 58,170.67, days high, before closing at 58,115.50, up 545.25 pts from its previous close.
The Sensex registered days high and low at 58,170.67 and 57,540.36 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,356.25 and 17,154.80 respectively.
The sectoral indices like Power, Utilities, Auto and Consumer Discretionary Goods and Services stocks.
In scrips, M&M gained 6.15 pc to Rs 1236.35 followed by Powergrid by 2.66 pc to Rs 219.70, NTPC by 2.65 pc to Rs 157, Reliance Industries by 2.64 pc to Rs 2575.10 and Bharti Airtel by 2.54 pc to Rs 695.10.
The losers were Sun Pharma by 2.65 pc to Rs 918.55, Hind Unilever by 1.45 pc to Rs 2598.65, IndusInd Bank by 0.40 pc to Rs 1039 and Nestle India by 0.35 pc to Rs 19,284.05.
The Mid Cap rose by 1.51 pc and Small Cap by 1.47 pc.
In 30 scrips, 24 advanced while 6 declined.
