UP: Five die, 9 injured as car rams into jeep

Firozabad (UP), Mar 14 : Five persons were killed and 9 others were injured when a car collided with a jeep in Nasirpur area of Firozabad district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, police sources said.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the road accident in Firozabad district.

Police sources said that the incident took place on Agra-Lucknow expressway when the sports car of Delhi rammed into the stationary jeep registered in Rajasthan. “Five persons were killed in the incident and 9 others were injured. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Shikohabad and Firozabad,” they said.

Police sources said that a team of UPEIDA and police reached the spot and launched a rescue and relief operation. “Four passengers of the jeep identified as Babulal (40), his brother Nemichand (43), Rajesh (38) and Kailash (38) and Mithilesh Gupta, a resident of Dabri Extension in New Delhi, were killed on the spot,” they said.

Police sources said that the injured include Rakesh (35), his wife Neha (25), sister Baby (28), a seven-year-old child, Vinod (50), Parasram (35), driver of the car Om Prakash (48), Abhas Gupta (23) and Vaishnavi (20).

Police said that while jeep passengers were returning to Churu in Rajasthan after attending a function in Gorakhpur, the car passengers were returning to Delhi from Lucknow at the time of the accident. District Magistrate Ravi Ranjan, Superintendent of Police (City) Sarvesh Kumar Mishra along with other officers visited the hospital and directed to assure proper treatment of the injured and provide necessary help to the victims.

Meanwhile, CM Yogi while expressing grief has wished for the peace of the departed soul. He has expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.

The CM has directed the officials of the district administration to ensure proper treatment of the injured and has wished for their speedy recovery.
