Ahmedabad, May 10 : In a dazzling display of cricketing prowess, Gujarat Titans clinched a resounding 35-run victory over Chennai Super Kings in Match 59 of the TATA IPL 2024 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Led by stellar centuries from captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, along with an impressive bowling performance by Mohit Sharma, Gujarat Titans dominated the proceedings from start to finish here on Friday.

The match witnessed a spectacular opening partnership of 210 runs between Gill and Sudharsan, which not only set the tone for Gujarat Titans’ innings but also equaled the record for the highest opening stand in the history of the IPL. Their brilliant strokeplay propelled Gujarat Titans to a formidable total of 231/3.

Chasing 232 for victory, Chennai Super Kings faced an uphill battle as Gujarat Titans showcased exceptional fielding skills, grabbing crucial wickets at regular intervals. Despite valiant efforts from Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali, who both scored half-centuries, Chennai Super Kings fell short of the target, managing only 196/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Mohit Sharma emerged as the hero for Gujarat Titans with a match-turning spell, claiming three crucial wickets including those of Mitchell, Ali, and Shivam Dube. His economical bowling played a pivotal role in restricting Chennai Super Kings’ scoring rate.

Gujarat Titans’ dominance was further highlighted by their outstanding fielding efforts, with players like David Miller, Rashid Khan, and Rahul Tewatia showcasing exceptional skills on the field.

Despite a spirited late onslaught from MS Dhoni, who scored a quickfire 26 off 11 balls, Chennai Super Kings failed to overhaul the target set by Gujarat Titans, eventually finishing at 196/8.

Earlier in the match, Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision proved fruitful as Gill and Sudharsan provided a solid foundation with their scintillating centuries, propelling their team to a commanding total.
