Guwahati, Mar 2 : The Assam state Cabinet took a loan of Rs. 4546.74 crore from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NBARD) on Friday night for the construction of Anganwadi centres and embankments in Assam.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired the cabinet meeting at Dispur.

Addressed to the media, Cabinet Minister Keshab Mahanta said the cabinet meeting approved the proposal of four companies coming forward to invest in Assam.

This company will invest a total of Rs 1,612 crore and provide direct employment to 4,125 people, he added.

He said that the cabinet approved the policy of setting up poultry firms on a commercial basis.

For this, the government will give a capital subsidy of five crore rupees and a total subsidy of ten crore rupees, he added.

The Cabinet approved the construction of a three-lane elevated corridor (flyover) on A. T. Road in Jorhat, worth 164.87 crore.
