New Delhi, Feb 16 : Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil believes that the match went according to plan after his side secured a clinical 4-0 victory against Punjab FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Thursday night.

Jamshedpur FC had the upper hand in the match from the offset with Daniel Chima Chukwu’s 11th-minute strike, while Mohammed Sanan K doubled the lead for the visitors using his presence inside the box. In the dying minutes of the second half, Jeremy Manzorro netted a brace that inspired the Men of Steel to continue their unbeaten run in the ISL since Jamil’s appointment.

Jamil had words of praise for his players’ work rate and commitment to their game. Reflecting on the win, the head coach revealed that all things went according to plan, which led his side to secure their fourth victory of the season.

“Everybody worked very hard. We tried to create chances,” Jamil said in the post-match press conference.

“We got an early goal. I think with Rehenesh TP’s penalty save, the match turned a little bit. We got another goal at the start of the second half. Jeremy Manzorro scored an outstanding free-kick goal. So, all things went in our favour tonight,” he added.

Jamil spoke about the difficulties of playing against Punjab FC in an away fixture, who went into the game with two consecutive victories. However, the 44-year-old didn’t comment on their possibility of reaching the playoff.

“I didn’t make the calculation. We are playing with a good team. Punjab FC did well in their last two games. So, it was difficult tonight to play at their home. But now we are focusing on our next match,” he shared.

Muhammad Uvais, the 25-year-old defender, is getting regular game time under Jamil. Speaking about the potential of his Indian left-back, the head coach stated, “Uvais played well and improved a lot.”

“He is left-footed and has a good physique. I substituted him because he was on a yellow card. He

is improving match by match, but he still needs to improve,” Jamil concluded.
