Samajwadi MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq passes away after prolonged illness

Sambhal (UP), Feb 27 : Samajwadi Party’s (SP) Lok Sabha MP from Sambhal, Shafiqur Rahman Barq, passed away after prolonged illness at a hospital in Moradabad on Tuesday. He was 94 years old. Family sources said that Barq, who was active in politics for the last 55 years, was admitted to a private hospital due to a kidney infection. Last week, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav visited the hospital and inquired about the health of the MP. Barq was a four-time MLA from Sambhal and an MP from Sambhal and Moradabad districts. The SP had announced his candidature from the Moradabad seat for the Lok Sabha polls slated to be held this year in its first list.
